Washington Twp. Wins an Oscar!!!

At the annual meeting of the Armstrong County Association of Township Officers on May 17, Washington Township took the top prize for collecting the most plastic bags for recycling. The competition, sponsored and administrated by the Armstrong Conservation District, was between the municipalities of the county as well as county departments. There were more than 700 lbs. of plastic bags and packing plastic collected for recycling -– 349 lbs. from the municipalities and the rest from county departments. Washington Township won with 45 lbs. collected!

The Conservation District is working to make plastic bag recycling a permanent part of the county’s recycling efforts.
