Washington Township has won 2 new grants through the state’s Dirt and Gravel program
administered by the Armstrong County Conservation District.
The township will receive $42,500 for road base and grading work on Hays Road, with a project
total of $80,428. The township will contribute the value of the difference with equipment
services, labor, and ancillary costs.
The southern half of River Road will be rebuilt and topped with tar-and-chip with a $36,700
grant. The total project will be $72,496 with the township contributing equipment, labor, and
ancillary costs as on Hays Rd. The northern half of River Rd. was rebuilt similarly this past summer
with a grant received in 2022.
